Hey there, Olde Crone! Will you teach me how to make soap?

I can't tell you how many times I've been asked that. Teaching a soap making class is too much of a demand on my time right now, but because I live to serve, I've done the next best thing:

I've written a book.

Making Soap In Your Own Kitchen is a beginner's guide to soap-making, which is fully illustrated with photographs for each step of the process. You will discover:

  • A Brief History of Soap (very brief)
  • What lye is and why it is necessary
  • Which fats and oils to use
  • What materials are needed and where to get them
  • The entire process, from weighing fats to mixing lye, to cutting the finished soap into bars
  • Essential oils that scent your soaps
  • Recipes!
  • Packaging options for gifts/sale of your soap

Each and every step has a photograph that shows what to do at that point, so there is no guesswork involved. Advice is included about how to handle lye, the fats that will make your soap moisturizing, and which tools are cheapest and most effective. Furthermore, having the book in an electronic format has several benefits:

  1. No paper is used, so it is an evironmentally considerate choice.
  2. When reading an ebook, you can increase or decrease the size of the text. Hooray!
  3. You can search through the book, electronically.
  4. The price of the book is not increased due to the number of photographs; were the book to be printed, it would be cost-prohibitive. An eBook allows me to show you, step-by-step, the entire process.
  5. You will receive your book via download when the payment is received (usually the same day). No waiting for shipment or shipping charges. Input the password, and you can start making soap right away!

Your ebook download information will be delivered upon receipt of the payment notification. It will be sent to the email address you provide to Paypal, as soon as the email is received. No shipping! Awesome! You will receive an email with the book attached to it.

As a librarian and book lover, I relish a good book.
As a crafter and creator, I relish good, clear
instructions. Amy has created both! With beautiful
pictures, exhaustive information and clear clever
writing, Amy Kalinchuk has created a splendid
introduction to the beginner, or further information
and instruction to the expert. Futhermore, Amy is
willing to answer questions and provide more
information! How often are you able to get that from
an author? Thank you Amy!  ~Tara, Denver, Colorado

Thank You....Thank You... Thank You... your ebook has such great detail. I'm so glad I found your site!! Such fast delivery too. Thanks again for sharing your talent and knowledge! ~Laura

Hi Olde Crone...just downloaded your book; I have been making CP soaps for 10 years now and teaching soapmaking for 5 years. Oh My Goodness this book is stellar! I have people asking me all the time for an easy, comprehensive starter book--this is it! I will be giving your url to my students. ~Theda, Millport, Alabama

I bought your book, then plunged into making Lavender Baby Soap. It was a SUCCESS! So now, there's no stopping me! Your book gave easy to follow instructions, facutal as well as humorous info without a lot of chemcial 'mumbo-jumbo' to discourage me from stirring up the first batch...WHAT GREAT FUN! ~Connie

I am truly excited to start this process. I am sure I will be fine since this book literally holds your hand through the process. I love this little book--it's great! ~Kelly, New Jersey

Your book is wonderful--it is so simple! I have been reading other books, but yours is great. I am sooo excited about getting started! ~Cookie

I have made soap for awhile now, but your instructions are so clear in both your books! I especially love the oils chart in the recipe book! I made the lard soap and am soon to make the salt soap. I used goat's milk in the lard soap but used half the amount in the oils, along with some coconut cream, and the soap is beautiful! No scorching at all! Much better than freezing the milk first. Thanks for writing a book! ~ Cathy, soaper
